Just arrived this 1979 Corvette has just about every option available except for the spoilers. The car is finished in Corvette Red with Matching Red Leather interior. Striking and sought after color combination. This Corvette shows 38,619 miles and is believed to be actual. The car was nicely repainted as well as new leather seats, new door panels, and carpeting. Several routine mechanical things have been done to the car as well. The paint job was finished nice and wet sanded and buffed out to a show shine. The front and rear bumpers appear to be the originals and are in excellent condition. The original glass still looks nice and presentable along with all of the emblems and trim. The body lines are excellent and the fit is as good as they come for 1979. The door jamb areas were left alone and still are nice with the labels still intact. The interior of the car is nice. Seats, carpeting, door panels have all been replaced. The instruments and dash pad all look excellent. We do have a new console and black leather shifter boot that have not yet been installed. All original instruments and radio. Seat belts intact and in great shape as well. The radiator, fuel pump, and alternator have recently been replaced. The car does drive out nice and even the a/c still works. All original smog equipment is still intact but the mufflers have been replaced. The engine compartment still looks nice and original but we do plan on doing some cosmetic detailing when we get a chance. We purchased the car from a gentleman in Bloomington Illinois, but originally this car was a Missouri car. It actually was sold new at Feld Chevrolet, Inc. in Maplewood, Missouri. This was an early 1979 built on Thursday September 14th, 1978. This was the 2,346th car built in 1979 out of 53,807 total produced that year.

I do have some owner history, window sticker, invoice, sales brochure, assembly manual, owners manual, odometer statement signed by previous owner, and other literature pertaining to the 1979. model year. The car does still have its original jack and lug wrench, along with the original spare tire and wheel. Nice and presentable underneath with a solid original frame. No rust. The only real negative thing to this corvette is the passenger side original glass t-top has a crack on the corner edge where at one time had been dropped on its edge. The tops are the original date coded ones to the car and do match very well. The drivers side one is near perfect.
The original list price on this corvette was $13,832.43
The base price on a 1979 model was $10,220.23
KEY HIGHLIGHTS TO THE 1979 MODEL YEAR:
Last year for the 140 MPH Speedometer as the 85 MPH one was phased in during late production of the 1979 model year.
The new ‘High back” seat style introduced in the 1978 pace car replicas was made standard equipment in 1979. Extensive use of plastic in the frame structure resulted in weight reduction of about twelve pounds per seat. The new seats had better side bolster support, and the backs folded at a higher point to permit easier rear storage access. Inertia locking mechanisms restrained the backs in sudden deceleration, negating the need for manual locks. Driver and passenger seat tracks were redesigned for an additional inch of forward travel.
The 1979 fuel filler pipe was redesigned to make it more difficult to modify for leaded-fuel access.
Output for both the base L-48 and optional L-82 engines increased by 5hp due to a new “open flow” muffler design.
Tungsten-halogen headlight beams were phased into 1979 production early in the production year for increased visibility. These replaced only the high-beam units.
The RPO ZX2 convenience group option as this one has included dome and courtesy light delay, headlight warning buzzer, underhood light, low fuel warning light, floor mats, intermittent wipers, and a right side visor mirror.
The RPO FE7 Gymkhana Suspension option as this car has included stiffer springs and sway bars.
The fifth digit in the VIN (4) designates this corvette as a real L-82 car.
Great color combination, right options, and another great entry level investment quality corvette.
