We just recently acquired this 1998 Corvette Convertible. Clean Auto Check Vehicle History Report. The mileage on this Corvette is still low showing 63,810 actual. Unique Black Exterior with Firethorn Red leather interior. The overall condition of this vehicle is very presentable and in good shape for being 21 years old. The paint is still in great condition, only showing a few nicks, mostly on the lower rocker moldings which is to be expected with 63,810 miles. The softop is black canvas and still in good condition as well with some minor wear showing, but doesn’t need replacing. The wheels are original to the car with new Sumitomo A/S P02 tires recently replaced in the correct sizes both front and back. The interior is very nice with minimal wear showing. The door panels, leather seats, dash pad, steering wheel and carpeting all still look nice and fresh. No rips or tears on those items and the seats present themselves as a 30,000 mile car. The weatherstripping as well is in great shape not only on the doors, but around the windshield area and softop. The car is not perfect, but a very nice presentable C5 convertible that is priced realistic to sell. The engine compartment is also clean with new belts recently installed and serviced. All headlamps, air conditioning, and power accessories work on the car. Recent service on the cooling system done locally at the Chevrolet dealership where the system was flushed and even the coolant tank was removed and cleaned. I have personally driven this car around 100 miles and it does drive out smoothly. Alot of performance as well with the optional performance axle that this one has that makes these models fun to drive. This Corvette was originally sold new at Sewell Cadillac-Chevrolet in New Orleans, Louisiana and has spent the last 17 years in Southern Arkansas. In fact the previous owner purchased the car in 2002 with only 17,600 miles and were the ones that drove it to where the miles are at today. A good history goes with this Corvette along with the build sheet, window sticker, sales brochure, and the original owners manual in the original leather binder it came in. We did title the vehicle in our business name so it does have a clear Missouri title in hands but did make copies of the previous title showing the mileage on the car from Arkansas.

1998 CORVETTE FACTS:
After a one-model-year absence, a convertible was again available in 1998. The 1998 convertible weighed 114 pounds less than 1996’s, yet was more than four times stiffer torsionally.
Lowering the convertible’s soft top required release of two latches, then pushing a button for release of a hard tonneau. If side windows were up, pushing the button also lowered them. The tonneau pivoted up and back, and the top folded manually into its storage bay. Raising the top was a reversal of these steps. Articulated geometry of the bows eliminated rear latches. The rear window was glass and heated.
For the first time since 1962, a separate trunk with outside access returned in 1998. It was a standard feature of the convertible body style; coupes retained their hatchback design as before. The convertible’s storage space was just slightly more than half that of coupes (13.9 cubic feet compared to 24.8), but it was larger than virtually all competing soft top two-seaters, and twice that of the previous Corvette generation’s convertible. Even with the top folded down, storage space was 11.1 cubic feet, adequate for two golf bags.
Coefficient of drag was .33 for convertibles with top up (.29 for coupes).
Noise reduction measures included a revised accessory drive tensioner, removal of the alternator rear brace to eliminate high-rpm whine, and clips to better hold window glass to seals during high-speed operation. A quieter electric fuel pump was used after the start of 1998 production.
Steering castor angle was increased for improved tracking and Selective Real Time Damping (RPO F45) was modified for better wheel control.
The transmission cooler changed from copper-nickel to stainless steel.
The multi-piece cooling fan shroud was replaced by a one-piece unit.
A second-gear start select mode was added to automatic transmissions to limit wheel spin on slippery surfaces.
Automotive media praised the Corvette, voting it North American Car Of The Year in January at the 1998 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. AutoWeek, January 12, 1998.
Corvette also Paced the Indianapolis 500 this year in a special edition paint scheme and only 1,163 were produced.
Black exterior color was the second most sought after in 1998.
The Optional F45 Selective Real Time Damping option like this one has was substantially different then the previous FX3 option. Using data from wheel travel sensors and the Powertrain Control Module, a controller calculated the damping mode that would provide optimum control via special shock absorbers. It could alter each shock individually (unlike the earlier system which changed all shocks simultaneously) every 10 to 15 milliseconds, or about every foot of roadway at 60 mph.
